Comment on “Comparison of Polarization Observables in Electron Scattering from the Proton and Deuteron”
1998
Photoproduction of π 0 mesons off protons and neutrons in the second and third nucleon resonance regions
2018
Photoproduction of mesons off quasi-free nucleons bound in the deuteron allows to study the electromagnetic excitation spectrum of the neutron and the isospin structure of the excitation of nucleon resonances. The database for such reactions is much more sparse than for free proton targets. Single $\pi^0$ photoproduction off quasi-free nucleons from the deuteron was experimentally studied. Nuclear effects were investigated by a comparison of the results for free protons and quasi-free protons and used as a correction for the quasi-free neutron data. The experiment was performed at the tagged photon beam of the Mainz MAMI accelerator for photon energies between 0.45~GeV and 1.4~GeV, using an…
Probing new physics in B¯0→D(*)τ−ν¯τ using the longitudinal, transverse, and normal polarization components of the tau lepton
2017
We study the longitudinal, transverse, and normal polarization components of the tau lepton in the decays ${\overline{B}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}^{(*)}{\ensuremath{\tau}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{\ensuremath{\tau}}$ and discuss their role in searching for new physics (NP) beyond the standard model (SM). Starting with a model-independent effective Hamiltonian including non-SM four-Fermi operators, we obtain experimental constraints on different NP scenarios and investigate their effects on the polarization observables. In the SM the longitudinal and transverse polarizations of the tau lepton differ substantially from the corresponding zero lepton mass values of $…

Semileptonic decaysΛc+→Λℓ+νℓ(ℓ=e,μ)in the covariant quark model and comparison with the new absolute branching fraction measurements of Belle and BES…
2016
We present precise theoretical predictions for the absolute branching fractions of ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{c}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{\ensuremath{\ell}}(\ensuremath{\ell}=e,\ensuremath{\mu})$ decays in the covariant confined quark model. This study is motivated by two recent and accurate measurements of the absolute branching fractions of ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{c}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}p{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$ and ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{c}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}{e}^{+}{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{e}$ by the Belle Collaboration at the KE…
Pion Photo- and Electroproduction on the Proton
1999
Using a unitary isobar model a new operator for pion photo- and electroproduction has been developed for nuclear applications at photon equivalent energies up to 1 GeV. The model contains Born terms, vector mesons and nucleon resonances (P 33(1232), P 11(1440), D 13(1520), S 11(1535), F 15(1680), and D 33(1700)). Within this model we have obtained good agreement with the experimental data for pion photo- and electroproduction on the nucleon for both differential cross sections and polarization observables.
Dispersion theoretical analysis of the nucleon spin polarizabilities
1999
The spin polarizabilities of the nucleon have been calculated from pion photoproduction data using forward dispersion relations. The feasibility of an experimental determination of these structure constants is discussed by focusing on polarization observables of the reaction \( \vec{\gamma }\vec{p} \to \gamma p \)→ γ p.
<title>Polarization-optical visualization of eye inhomogeneities</title>
2000
Polarization sensitive technique is reported for visualization of eye scattering and birefringent inhomogeneities using digital subtracting of eye images captured by a CCD camera for two orthogonal polarizations of light forming images in the CCD camera. For fast capturing of images the polarization plane of the backscattered light is periodically switched at 90 degrees by an electro-optical PLZT phase plate. This plate is placed close to the CCD camera together with a sheet polarizer inserted between camera and the phase plate. Polarization plane is switched applying the voltage 1200 V to the phase plate at a rate of 7.5 Hz. The technique improves visualization due to diminishing of the im…
Optical polarization of nuclear ensembles in diamond
2012
We report polarization of a dense nuclear-spin ensemble in diamond and its dependence on magnetic field and temperature. The polarization method is based on the transfer of electron spin polarization of negatively charged nitrogen vacancy color centers to the nuclear spins via the excited-state level anti-crossing of the center. We polarize 90% of the 14N nuclear spins within the NV centers, and 70% of the proximal 13C nuclear spins with hyperfine interaction strength of 13-14 MHz. Magnetic-field dependence of the polarization reveals sharp decrease in polarization at specific field values corresponding to cross-relaxation with substitutional nitrogen centers, while temperature dependence o…
Polarization observables for elastic electron scattering off a moving nucleon
2019
General expressions for all parity-conserving polarization observables of elastic electron-nucleon scattering in the one-photon exchange approximation are derived for a general frame of reference, i.e.\ not assumming scattering off a nucleon at rest and not specializing to a specific system of coordinates. Essentially, the given expressions are also valid for the inverse process, i.e.\ nucleon scattering off electrons.
